Criticism to Chase
11/24/2009.
Last night, I checked my Chase.com website for my checkings. Saw some $43 and went "alright." Waiting for my Mom's monthly $520. (As a reminder, the reason why my account was so low, was because of the $375 I lost in the month of September, due to street people and people inducing scams). I scrolled and saw the previous month it came on the 26th. And last night was the end of the 23rd. So I thought, some 2 and a half more days before I get the $520 to spend less than some $43.
Then the next morning, around some 9:20 a.m., I check my e-mail to see I got 7 e-mail from Chase in the morning, 6 overdraft fees. They were from 7:28, 7:34, 7:39, 7:40, 7:43, 8:44, and 8:44 a.m.
And when I check my Chase account, I saw 3 checks that I wrote to someone some 2 and a half months ago were deposited. However, the displacement of the 3 checks were before some of the things I saw last night, which is why there are 6 overdraft fees instead of 3 ($33 each).
But then I saw my Mom's $520 kicked in, and it was under the status pending. Under the date column, it says pending. However, the present and available balance showed as if the $520 was there. It was right after the overdraft fees of course.
So why is it I see something like that 3 days in advance, where it says pending? But last night, I didn't see the 3 checks under the status "pending." In fact, the date of the 3 drafts shows it as the date last night, but uh, I didn't see them at all last night! (The checks were not from within the same bank to the same bank.).
And that is my criticism to Chase.
A 2nd criticism to Chase, is.

Now, the 3 checks that were deposited, that itself is another interesting story. They were for the same guy in the screenshot in my "7 reasons why I don't got much friends" blog, in my /Blog/ section. They were written some 2 and a half months ago, and all of a sudden deposited right at the precise time. They were $20, $20, and $50, totaling $90, which in a logical order would be 3 draft fees totaling $99 but apparently there were 6.
This goes back to my criticism to Pre-Paid Legal Services page, where I lost $124.95. So when I canceled my card due to their scam, I had to wait some 2 weeks or so before they mail be my new card. And I didn't have enough cash at home. And what could I do without an A.T.M. card? You can't go to the grocery store and write them a check. No idea how it is with going to the banks.
And so, when I needed $20, I wrote him a check for $20. When I needed $50 for cash, I wrote him a check for $50. Those checks written in the beginning of September were deposited completely. This morning, it says they were deposited yesterday. But last night, they didn't exist at all.
Okay, so if you read from the other page, I loaned that guy $4,100. Here is my criticism to him. Why am I - of all his friends, the only person he goes to? He has a lot of friends. I guess it has to do with the fact that I'm a nice guy. Oh well.
Repeat again - summary.
On September 6, 2009, I wrote him a check for $20 in exchange for $20 cash (A.T.M. card cancelled and waiting for the new 1 to be mailed).
On September 7, 2009, wrote him another check for $20 for $20 cash.
On September 10, 2009, write him the last check of $50 for $50 cash.
On September 26, 2009, at night, while in his room, I saw the checks he had not deposited and asked about it, and he said he had no intention to, and that when he pays me back the $4,100 he owes me, it'll be $90 less ($50 + $20 + $20).
Wish he letted me know when he was doing to deposit them so I could have prepared for it with regards to the 6 overdraft fees. :(
On the night of November 23rd (I think around 9 p.m.), there were no 3 checks pending of the $520 coming in.
But on the morning of November 23rd, (by some 9 a.m.), there were the 3 checks, 6 overdraft fees, and then, the $520 just came in, and all of them were dated yesterday, November the 23rd, making my balance still above 0. :/
It's times like this where I wish I had Internet in my apartment so I could have checked my bank account shortly before midnight.
Conclusion.
I obviously want to close my account with Chase. However, opening an account with another bank may be no different, because all banks are the same, likely. But on the irrational side - it will just make me feel better. My Dad has had bad experiences with Chase - how he got screwed over. Likely it is hard to be rational when you are depressed and so I want to move to another bank.
